The City of Las Cruces has had a two decade commitment to Revitalize the Downtown. The following is summary of the major moves to leverage the investments the City of Las Cruces has made to date:
Original Master Plan for Revitalization
- Removal of the 1960’s 7 block long pedestrian mall
- Creation of the Tax Increment Development District
- Dedication of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA)
- Continual Updates of the Master Plan
- Three series of Retail, Restaurant, and Housing studies completed by national experts
- Approved Public-Private Sector partnership with LCCP to incentivize the private sector and speed development
The City, State and Federal Government have seeded Downtown Las Cruces with capital investments exceeding $160,000,000 just in the last 7 years, provide proof of concept and commitment:
