Downtown Las Cruces is already well on its way to returning to the thriving retail center it once was. Las Cruces Community Partners is committed to working with the City of Las Cruces to enhance the downtown area by attracting both local and national businesses to the area.
Attracting customers and keeping them downtown is one of the keys to revitalization. A recent John Burns survey found today’s shoppers in every demographic rated service and retail as the most desired amenities. Further, according to the Brookings Institution study, Turning Around Downtown: Twelve Steps to Revitalization, a critical mass of shopping and dining venues is necessary to sustain growth:
This means making certain that visitors can find enough to do for 4 to 6 hours; that residents daily needs can be comfortably met; and that rents and sales prices continue to justify new construction or renovation.
Building on the retail options currently available downtown will help ensure that Downtown Las Cruces can meet this criteria.
Downtown Las Cruces currently offers the following retail and shopping experiences:
- Coas Bookstore
- The Spa Downtown
- Mas Art Supplies
- Las Cruces Farmers and Crafters Market
