Bob Pofahl – Community Builders International (CBI)
   For the past 40 years Robert Pofahl has been principally engaged in the management and organization of companies involved in real estate development and construction. Prior to forming Community Builders International and Picacho Mountain, Bob and his associates built several nationally recognized companies, later integrated into subsidiaries, which provided real estate and building services. Those services encompassed architectural, engineering, construction, development, property management, financing and real estate securities.
CBI is an established Las Cruces company that has successfully developed the Picacho Mountain Master Planned Community, which began in 2006. As the founder of CBI, Mr. Pofahl has had a broad range of experience, including design, development, and construction of over $6 billion in projects in the U.S. and Mexico. Projects include:
- Development of over 20 Embassy Suite hotels around the U.S.
- Development and construction of over three million square feet of industrial and commercial space
- Development of major office/warehouse and industrial parks
- Development of multiple multifamily communities totaling over 8,000 units in Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida
- Development of affordable master-planned communities in Mexico
- Development of mixed-use resort communities in Baja, Mexico with MDG Resorts and ResortCom
Karen Pofahl – Community Builders International
Karen Pofahl oversees the vertical construction projects for CBI and the Picacho Mountain development. Her major focus over the past two years has been to coordinate the design and contract management for the Willows at Picacho Mountain patio home project. Additionally, Karen is working with architects to design the next phase of vertical development, The Oaks at Picacho Mountain town homes.
Karen is President and Executive Director of Community Resource International (CRI), a non profit community development organization committed to working with communities, homeowner associations and developers to empower residents to create better neighborhoods.
Doug Wright – Wright Development Services
Wright Development Services is an established real estate development company founded by Doug Wright. Mr. Wright has been active in the real estate development industry since 1972, principally involved in developments comprising:
- Thousands of acres of commercial and residential master-planed communities
- Over 7,700 apartment units, with initial valuations totaling more than $750 million
- Four office parks comprised of over 300,000 square feet of rentable space
- Multiple industrial buildings in three industrial parks, comprising over 1 million square feet of rentable space
- Five hotels comprising 1,200 suites with initial valuations totaling more than $150 million
- Miscellaneous retail and self-storage projects
Wright Development Services and its team of architects, engineers, land planners, leasing brokers, developers, and general contractors were recently selected by the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas system in Austin to be the developers of prime UTEP property near the Don Haskins Center on Mesa Street. That reward was the result of a two-year process which involved numerous presentations and interviews with UTEP and UT representatives. It was also a competitive process through which three other highly qualified real estate development companies were eliminated. The selection of the Wright Development Services team for this major real estate project is affirmation of the firm’s vision and capabilities.Â
Tom Paul – Wright Development Services
Tom Paul, a senior executive of Wright Development Services, is also actively involved in all LCCP redevelopment projects. Mr. Paul has been in commercial real estate and asset management business for over forty years, bringing valuable experience to the team.
Steve Newby – Steve Newby Architects & Associates, Inc.
Steve Newby, AIA, has more than 35 years of experience as a registered professional architect. H has experience in commercial, residential, and public architecture and has completed over $450 million of building projects for a broad range of project and a wide range of customers. Mr. Newby has a strong commitment to Las Cruces and has been active in assisting and supporting numerous organizations and agencies.
Mr. Newby’s knowledge of downtown revitalization is unsurpassed in the Las Cruces community, and his understanding of the importance of community input and involvement is of critical importance to the success of the project. Mr. Newby guides the team in ensuring the totality of the projects we create adhere to sustainable and smart growth principles.
Eddie Martinez (Limited Partner)Â – Zia Engineering & Environmental Consultants, LLC
Mr. Martinez, PE, is president and CEO of Zia Engineering & Environmental Consultants, LLC. He has over 30 years of experience in providing civil and environmental engineering services throughout the United States. He grew his company from one person in 2000 to over 120 people with multiple offices in eight states today. Zia’s current client base includes national industrial manufacturing operations, energy companies, national retail and commercial chains, school districts, and federal contracts.
