In 2014 LCCP entered into a Public/Private sector agreement withthe City of Las Cruces to lease 14 parcels of City owned land in the Downtown core. These parcels are planned for a variety of projects from housing, retail, restaurant and office use, to entertainment and civic use. LCCP also owns the Bank of the West property, which is strategically placed in the center of Downtown adjacent to the new Downtown Plaza.
The primary driving forces of all downtown projects undertaken by Las Cruces Community Partners will be centered on creating a sense of place and community. The context of each design will be more than the consideration of the history or the physical appearance of a neighborhood. The context will draw on the sense, the sights, and the memories that define a place and make it unique. Context will spring from the community, the people, and the history that will make the Las Cruces Downtown a maker of memories as it once was.
Sustainability and smart growth principles will also be a touchstone for every project. We will build on the achievement that the city has already achieved on the city hall, aquatic center, and convention center projects, so that Las Cruces will be a beacon of sustainable design concepts and ideas. Our projects will include innovations in energy efficiency, water recapture, recyclable materials, alternative energy systems, and increased density.
We will create a true live/work/play environment to enhance walkability and connections to the adjacent historic neighborhoods, and will embrace smart growth principles in the overall downtown fabric. our designs will show a genuine respect for the environment, for people, and for the connections to our history. Our projects will be designed by people, for people, now, and for generations to come.
